Listen To Understand | Wednesday Words #4

I hope your week is going wonderfully!!

This week's Wednesday Words quote is, "Most people do not listen with the intent to understand; they listen with the intent to reply."

I think that realizing this is important. Listening with the intent to reply rather than understand, is obviously not the worst thing in the world that someone can do, because so many people don't realize when they, or even others are doing this. But if you start to pay attention, you will see that you, and so many others around you tend to do this.

So many people want to be able to get their opinions or their advice in when conversing with others instead of really trying to understand what the people around them are saying or what they actually need to hear.

I will randomly think of this quote and try to remind myself that I don't always need to tell the people around me what I'm thinking. I don't always have to put my two cents in. In some cases, it is way better for me to keep quite and learn things about the person I am talking to.

If you listen to understand rather than to reply, you will do just that. You will understand. You will gain so much understanding of the things and people around you, and it will lead you to becoming a less judgmental person. Rather than seeing people and automatically making judgments and assumptions, you will want to understand them.

I hope you enjoyed this weeks Wednesday Words and that maybe you will start to listen to understand.

Also! There will be a post about my NYC trip this past weekend, probably before the end of the week!

Wednesday Words #3

(So sorry, I thought I scheduled this to post yesterday at 3pm, but I goofed up. So here it is now! Please excuse that its a day late! My apologies!)

Hello!!

As always, I hope your week is going wonderfully!

This weeks quote for Wednesday Words is, "You may not always end up where you thought you were going. But you will always end up where you are meant to be." I absolutely adore this quote. It's actually (believe it or not) something that I remind myself everyday.

Being a senior in High School this year, means its my last year and that I am going crazy, pulling my hair out looking for colleges and trying to figure out what I want to be for the rest of my life (Aaaahhh!!! Scary!).

Some people struggle with the fact that they don't know everything that's out there and don't want to chose until they do. Others know about almost everything you can do but still haven't found the one thing they want. And then there is people like me, who just want to do everything!!!!! Let me tell you that wanting to do everything may sound good because then you have so many options, but, it's not great if you're as indecisive as me.

One thing that I have never liked hearing is, "Before you go to college, you have to figure out what you want to do for the rest of your life."

That is wrong.

It is perfectly fine, for you to go to college with a set plan and to fulfill that plan. Whatever your chosen major is, can be what you do for the rest of your life. But it is also perfectly normal for you to go to college with a set plan, and end up suddenly changing your mind somewhere along the way and end up in a completely different place you started off heading to. It's even perfectly fine to go in with a bunch of different plans, and see which one you end up fulfilling.

That is the case with everything in life. People who expect everything to turn up picture perfect in their life, or who expect everything to be easy-peasy on whatever journey they go, and never accept the fact that neither of these things will ever happen, are not usually happy people. People who do that almost always end up getting so stressed in trying way too hard to make this ideal plan happen, when a lot of times, it's not where they are meant to go in life. Sometimes you have to just let go (let it gooooo, let it goooo) and let what happens, happen.

Don't worry, this isn't just my, inexperienced, haven't even lived two decades yet, seventeen-year-old opinion. Many adults that I know have told me stories of how their life worked out this way. How they thought they had it all figured out and would only be happy in this plan they created for themselves, and are now in completely different situations than they planned and have never been happier.

So don't get yourself worked up attempting to execute this perfect plan for yourself, when you just might belong somewhere completely different.

Hope you liked todays "Wednesday Words"!! With Lots and Lots of Love,
Marissa! (:

Wednesday Words #1

Hello!!

I hope you have all had a good week so far!

This week, for the first Wednesday Words, the quote I chose is; "You will never reach your destination if you stop and throw stones at every dog that barks."

I think that a lot of times, we, as human beings, tend to get stuck on the things that bring us down. For instance, when someone makes us mad, a lot of times we sit infuriated and ranting (whether it be out loud or in our heads) about all the things that were wrong in the situation we just encountered. And most of the times, we don't even do anything about it.

So rather than moving on, we are attached to this negative feeling for a little while until something better comes along.

Sure, sometimes you are just in a bad mood, but that mood could be distracting you from some cool things, even if its as simple as just having a good laugh with your friends.

All in all, try not to get stuck on the things that put negative thoughts in your head, just brush it off and find a reason to smile (trust me, there's lots of them).

Marissa! <3

The Sick Life & Trips!

Hello!

I'm so sorry that I didn't post last night, but with my waking up Saturday morning to a swollen and super-red eye, that on Sunday morning turned into both of my eyes being swollen almost shut from some sort of obnoxious allergic reaction, I was a bit distracted, I hope you can forgive me!

I'm also quite upset because this morning when I woke up, although there was no more swelling finally, my eyes were still red and my throat hurt so bad!

This sore throat has lasted the whole day. It feels as though someone took a fork to the back of my throat!

On a lighter note, today my mother was talking to me and told me that she wants to possibly go on a trip soon! This is so exciting as we don't go on many trips unless its a hockey tournament for my brother!

She said that if we don't go this year, she is going to set aside some money so that we can go next year! Which I won't mind the wait very much because I am going to NEW YORK CITY (For my first time ever!) in March, a week after my birthday for a school trip!

Anyway! I wanted to ask your opinions on where you think we should go! Is there anywhere that you have gone and absolutely loved that you think others might love too? I was thinking somewhere warm and sunny like Florida or California!

But tell me what you think! And maybe we will take your suggestion!

With Lots and Lots of Love,
Marissa! (:

P.S. I'm trying out different fonts to see which I like best! What do you think of this one? I love it!
